Basement
   insulate the exterior walls
   insulate the band joist
   caulk the sill plate
   increase basement height so that the heat ducts are 8 feet
   from the floor
   finish the interior walls
   rough-in for future bathrooms or wet bars

Heating/Air conditioning
   add at least 1/2 ton to A/C size
   place heating vents and cold air returns in each room
   if you will not be installing the A/C now, set up your furnace
   and electrical systems for it
   consider a high efficiency furnace

Electric
    install a 200 amp service
   center outlets under windows for decorating ease
   place an outlet in the mantle
   pre-wire your home for telephone, cable, computer
   after the house is framed, walk through it and place extra
   outlets and switches

Plumbing
    use 3/4 inch supply lines
   insulate drain lines
   insulate the water heater, if possible
   if the water heater is electric, install a timer
   insulate bathroom walls

 Roof
   use 30-year shingles
