• Water exists in great quantity under the earth.
• A modern well is dug by machine and is typically 100 to 200 feet deep.
• A pump is dropped down the well and is suspended in the well water.
• The pump pushes the water into a pressure tank that is typically installed in the basement.
• The pressure tank holds the water pressure at reasonable levels without the pump starting each time water is used.
• Wells typically cost from $3,000 to $4,000.

Septic Systems

• A septic system is an on-site sewage disposal system. There are several types, but they can be broadly divided into two types:
  • In-ground conventional systems and
  • above-ground sand mound systems
• An inspection is made of the soil and a permit is issued.
• 90% of the permits issued are for sand mound systems.
